Williams Checks Out UCLA

Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne quarterback Troy Williams took a visit to UCLA on Tuesday and could be closing in on his decision...

Troy Williams is one of the elite signal callers in the West region. He has looked good in several off-season 7 on 7 tournaments and has improved in several areas since his junior season and should put up some big numbers next fall.

Williams took a visit to UCLA to watch spring practice and came away very impressed.

"It was real nice there, I had a good time," Williams said. "They had a great practice, this was my first time seeing them in action this year and you can tell a big difference between this year and last year.

"This year, the players look a lot more assertive and aggressive. There was no nonchalance by anyone out there, players were fired up and ready to go so it was a cool time."

Williams said he was able to spend some quality time with the Bruin coaches after the practice as well.

"I talked with Coach Mazzone, Yarber, Klemm and Broussard," Williams said. "Coach Mazzone is a straight forward guy and I like him a lot. He told me I would have to come in and be ready to compete and prove myself like everyone else and that's fine with me.

"I'm going to Washington April 28 for Junior Day and I'll most likely be ready to commit after that visit. Florida just offered me and that's a big one. It's definitely giving me something to think about. I'm still thinking about committing early but I'm interested in seeing Florida so I guess it's a good problem to have."
