Junior Taylor Doesn't Qualify

Junior Taylor, the 6-2 wide receiver prospect from Gilbert (Ariz.) Mesa High School, did not qualify academically by NCAA standards and will not be enrolling at UCLA this fall, according to sources.

It was not clear whether Taylor, who was a top 100 Rivals prospect and rated the #11 prospect in the country by Rivals, did not complete the necessary course work load set down by the NCAA or didn't achieve a qualifying test score.

Sources, though, also indicated that Taylor intends to enroll at a junior college, not play football, and compete the work he needs to enroll at UCLA by spring of 2002 in time for spring practice.

The 17 other student athletes that UCLA signed in February have all met both the NCAA's and UCLA's requirements to enroll this fall.
