Willis Enjoys Rose Bowl Visit

Tempe (Ariz.) Marcos De Niza defensive back Priest Willis was in Southern California over the weekend visiting one of his top schools and said he has a good idea where three of his official visits will be as well.

Priest Willis has had a strong spring shining at the New Level 7 on 7 tournament in Las Vegas as well as the SoCal NIKE Camp. He was invited to both The Opening on the Nike campus in Oregon as well as GridIron Kings in Florida following the event.

Willis has been a frequent visitor to SoCal this year and has visited both UCLA and USC numerous times. He was back in the area on Saturday to watch the Bruins Spring scrimmage and came away impressed by what he saw.

"I really liked it there a lot," Willis said. "The game atmosphere was great and they had a pretty big and lively crowd so it was fun to be there. I'm starting to do more research on the schools I'm looking at and UCLA really has a lot to offer. I like Coach Mora a lot and he has great experience with developing defensive backs.

"They're a young team that loses a lot of players in the secondary and they need help right away. I think they're an up and coming program and have a chance to turn things around pretty quickly. I'm also developing a good relationship with Coach Martin, the DB coach there. He seems like a good guy and we're developing a nice bond for sure."

While the buzz around Willis the past few months has been he's a strong lean to USC, the DB said he's not leaning anywhere.

"I really don't have a leader right now, I'm looking at a lot of schools," Willis said. "The only thing I know for sure is me and Tahaan Goodman plan to play together in college, that's something we've been talking about for a while now. We've become very good friends and have a lot of the same schools recruiting us.

"At the end of the UCLA scrimmage, Coach Martin was talking to a bunch of us all together, myself and Tahaan, Joe Mathis, L.J. Moore and said we could come in and really turn the program around if we came in together. That's something we're definitely thinking about but for sure, Tahaan and I wanted to play together and there's a good chance that will happen."

Don't look for an early decision from Willis as he plans to take all five of his official visits before committing anywhere.

"I won't trip to USC or UCLA because I've been there so many times already," Willis said. "Same thing for the in-state schools like Arizona State or Arizona. I want to see some new places that I've never been before. LSU and Nebraska are two schools Tahaan and I are visiting and I really want to check out Notre Dame too. After that, I really don't know, there are so many good schools I wish I could take more than five official visits.

"Oregon was just here on Tuesday and Coach Neal said they're very interested. They haven't offered yet but I'm going to try and visit there after The Opening since I'll already be in Oregon. When I'm in Florida for GK, I want to visit all the Florida schools too. It's going to be a crazy summer but I'm excited and looking forward to it."
