Will Price Commits To UCLA

Anaheim (Calif.) Western linebacker Will Price committed to UCLA late last week and is the Bruins 8th known commitment of the young season. The talented 'backer gives his thoughts on why the Bruins and why he wanted to get the decision out of the way so early in the process.

It's not an especially deep year for linebackers out West this year but Price, 6-1, 246 pounds, is one player who was receiving a ton of attention. Oregon State was the first school to offer him followed up by Arizona and Colorado State. When UCLA decided to offer about two weeks ago however, it was all but over.

"I've always liked UCLA a lot, that was my dream school growing up," Price said. "I went to their Junior Day and hung out with Larry Kerr, the new defensive coordinator the whole time. He showed me the new defense they would be using and how I would fit in. I really fell in love with the place and felt I would be a great fit in what they wanted to do.

"They'll be running the Tampa Buccaneers defense and want me as a between the tackles inside linebacker. They said they needed someone tough and physical who can make plays in the middle and that's my strength. When the offer came in the mail, I sat down and talked to my parents about what I should do. We all agreed UCLA was the place for me because it's close to home so if something happened where I needed to come home, I was right there. Also, I'll be majoring in Sports Medicine and UCLA has one of the best programs in the nation and like I said, it's a great school that I've followed for a long time and really like the new coaching staff there."

Price was brought up to the varsity at Western at the end of his freshman year and has started ever since. He was an All-CIF selection a year ago after totaling 135 tackles and three interceptions. He attended the SoCal Nike Camp where he clocked a 4.81 in the 40, 4.57 in the shuttle and jumped 30 inches in the vertical.
