Palma On a Tear

The Tulare (Calif.) Mission Oak linebacker, Kevin Palma, runs away with the LB MVP at the Oakland NFTC and now he's ready for the next bump in his recruitment...

Tulare (Calif.) Mission Oak linebacker Kevin Palma (6-2, 240), has easily been one of the best performers the entire spring.

After just missing the linebacker MVP at the SoCal NFTC, Palma returned to the Oakland NFTC on Sunday and left no doubt this time, rolling to the MVP award, and more importantly, an invitation to The Opening in July.

"It's amazing, just being invited to The Opening," said Palma. "I worked hard for this and the hard work has paid off. After I narrowly missed it the first time in L.A., I worked a lot harder and a lot has improved and it's an unbelievable feeling."

Surprisingly, Palma's recruitment has not been as busy as he'd hoped, but he's remaining patient for new schools to get in the mix.

Palma has been offered by Nevada, San Diego State and Oregon State, but he's visited UCLA already this spring and plans to return next month and thinks a couple of other schools could be close to offering.

"UCLA has been showing a lot of interest and I went to their spring practice and I'm going to their camp on June 9th," said Palma. "And I think UNLV and Washington could be close."

Palma said that a few schools have come by, but that he's being more proactive in visiting schools and initiating contact to get more schools interested.

Now selected to the The Opening in Oregon in July, Palma said he's hoping to take an unofficial visit to Oregon State before or after The Opening.
