The four-star has already been invited to the Semper Fi All-American Bowl and after a strong performance at the Oakland NFTC over the weekend, earned an invite to The Opening.
"I'm really excited about being invited to The Opening," said Byrd. "With Tee (Shepard) and Deonte (Greenberry) making it last year, it motivated me, because they were telling me all about it so I'm pretty happy to be invited to it. I'll just go up there and represent for Fresno."
Byrd said he doesn't see the need to rush a decision.
"I'm comfortable right now with how the process is going," said Byrd. "I've got a lot of nice offers and I'm pretty happy with all of my options."
By the time he starts his senior year, though, Byrd said he hopes to have his list somewhat pared down.
"I'm still open right now and I'm just going with the flow and staying focused in school," said Byrd. "I'll start narrowing things down in summer to where I want to visit."
While Byrd said he didn't have a top five, he did say one school is sure to be in it until the end.
"UCLA will definitely be on my list," said Byrd. "I've been talking with them the most. I talk a lot with Coach (Demetrice) Martin and Coach (Jim) Mora himself. Coach Mora being a DB coach means a lot. And Coach Meat (Martin) and I have a great relationship."
He weighed in at 195 on Sunday at the NFTC, and said he doesn't want to get too much bigger.
"I was 6-1.5, 195, and I want to play at about 200-205," said Byrd. "I don't want to get any bigger than that, though, because I don't want to play linebacker."
