Three Players to Leave Program

We reported a few weeks back that one player currently on the UCLA football roster would be leaving the program and we're now hearing about two more...

In the last several weeks, Bruin Report Online has learned that three football players currently on scholarship will leave the program.

They are offensive lineman Wade Yandall, safety Alex Mascarenas and linebacker Jared Koster.

We reported on Yandall a few weeks ago. The offensive lineman has continued to experience symptoms due to repeated concussions and we heard he has chosen to take a medical retirement from football.

More recently we've heard that Mascarenas will also take a medical retirment due to concussive symptoms.

Koster plans on transferring, according to sources.

Yandall attempted to practice this spring, particpating on two different days but then symptoms re-occurred. Mascarenas sat out all of spring practice.

UCLA has yet to publicly announce that the three players are planning to leave the program.

When the three do formally leave the program, UCLA would still be three over the NCAA-allotted scholarship limit of 85 for this fall.
