Poasi Moala had a solid junior season and then really caught our attention at the Cerritos NIKE Camp back in April. His wild hair was the first thing you notice but then you see his length, mobility and toughness and it's no wonder he's among the fastest rising lineman in the West.
Moala has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon State, San Diego State, UTEP, Washington and Washington State. After his performance at UCLA on Friday, the Bruins could offer soon as well.
"I really liked it at UCLA, it's a great environment," Moala said. "That's definitely where my parents want me to go, they want me to stay close to home and that's a big plus. My cousin Junior Pomea is at USC and it's cool that he can always come home when he wants and his family can see him at practices and games.
"They haven't offered yet though so I'm not sure what's going to happen. I talked to Coach Klemm and Coach Mora after the camp and they said they really liked me a lot so we'll see what happens."
Moala will leave Wednesday for Washington and the Huskies are very high on the tackles' list as well.
"I like Washington a lot and have heard great things about the place," Moala said. "They have a lot of Poly (Polynesian) players there and I have a lot of family who live there. I've never been to Seattle before but it looks like a really nice place and I'm very excited to check it out. I'll be there Wednesday-Friday so it should be a good time."
As for when he'll make a decision, Moala said he could commit early or go through the process.
"I honestly don't know what I'm going to do," Moala said. "I could commit early but I want to take my official visits so I don't know how it works. I like Boise State and Oregon State a lot too so we'll just see what happens. Right now, I'm working hard in summer school and getting my grades up. I'm doing good so things are going well for me right now."
