Lopez, who's been busy on the camp circuit ever since he was a freshman, had been looking forward to the opportunity to be in Beaverton, especially since his good friend, Christo Kourtzidis, went a year ago.
"Coming to all these camps, you hear about The Opening, so it's been a great moment, and I just came to compete against the best," said Lopez. "Christo told me about the competition and the rivalries so it was something to look forward to."
With The Opening done, Lopez is now turning his attention to making a college decision.
"I'd like to make my decision preferably this summer, either in July or August, but things change, so you never know," said Lopez. "It could be a possibility that I wait, but I prefer the summer."
And two schools are standing out for Lopez at this point.
Lopez has been to UCLA numerous times this spring, and went to their Junior Day. He was also in Seattle for the Huskies Junior Day in April.
"I went up to Washington for their Junior Day and it was really nice," said Lopez. "I saw everything that they do and really like it up there. I'd like to get up there again soon and continue the relationship with the coaches."
Lopez said he's also planning to get back up to UCLA this summer.
In the meantime, he's preparing for the Lancers upcoming season, which includes a new head coach.
"Our new coach likes to pound it and run, run, run, so it's going to be excited to run the ball so much," said Lopez.
