The Opening: Kevin Palma

The four-star linebacker from Tulare (Calif.) Mission Oak, Kevin Palma, has had quite the offseason...

Tulare (Calif.) Mission Oak linebacker Kevin Palma (6-2, 240) was just looking for an invite to the SoCal NFTC in late March when he was at the Long Beach SPARQ Combine.

A few months later, and two dominant performances at NFTC's later, Palma found himself playing on national television, helping his Super Bad team win the Nike 7ON at The Opening.

For Palma, it was the latest in a whirlwind spring.

"The Opening was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life," said Palma. "It's been amazing. After the first combine in Long Beach, I didn't think I'd ever come to The Opening, but after knowing I was going to Oakland, that was my goal, to earn an invitation."

Palma has also earned a handful of offers, with double-digits from several Western programs, and four are standing out.

"The offers the stand out the most are definitely UCLA, Colorado, Oregon State and San Diego State," said Palma.

Palma said he plans to take some trips once the season starts too.

"I want to take a trip to Colorado for sure, and then I'd like to see the other main schools I'm looking at," said Palma.

Palma is also hopeful a couple more schools join the mix come fall.

"I'm thinking Cal or Washington could watch the first few games and see me and go from there," said Palma.
