Pope Picks Up Another Pac-12 Offer

Malik Pope, an elite 6-5 forward prospect out of Sacramento, who could be one of the best in the west in the 2014 class, recently received an offer from a Pac-12 school...

Malik Pope, 6-7 JR SF Sacramento (Calif.) Capital Christian, is a terrific talent with a very high upside. A slender forward, Pope has excellent ball skills, very good vision and the ability to score from a number of spots on the floor.

I spoke with Pope at the Pangos Sweet Sixteen and asked about the schools that have offered him.

"UNLV, Washington, Cal, USC, Gonzaga, Baylor, Boise State," said Pope. "And UCLA just offered two days ago. I think that's a pretty good school."

When asked about the factors that will be important to his decision, Pope replied, "I'm going to look at the other players that would be playing my position. Early playing time is something I will look at."

While Pope said no school stands out for him at this time, he said a Big East school was his favorite when he was younger.

"Growing up, I liked Georgetown," said Pope. "But I'm wide open now."

I asked Pope if he has a time frame for picking a school.

"Not really, but my Mom would like me to wait until my senior year," said Pope.
