Zimmerman: Three Recruiting Hardest

Stephen Zimmerman, one of the best post prospects nationally in the class of 2015, says three programs are recruiting him the hardest...

Stephen Zimmerman, 6-11 JR C Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, is one of the elite prospects in the country for 2015. Zimmerman is very coordinated for a young post prospect, with excellent hands and an impressive low-post game. With good feet and extremely long arms, Zimmerman has the physical attributes that you look for in a big-time young post.

I spoke with Zimmerman recently and asked him about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"The main ones so far have been UCLA, Kansas and Arizona," said Zimmerman. "They've been coming at me pretty hard."

Zimmerman's mother is a UCLA graduate and the big man says she's got a favorite school.

"She's been egging me on to go to UCLA," said Zimmerman. "My family will be a big influence on me, but we'll have to sit down and decide what the best school will be for me."

I asked Zimmerman what he's looking for in a school.

"The main thing is my compatibility with the players and coaches," said Zimmerman. "The location isn't really a big deal."

Zimmerman has been on an unofficial visit to Arizona and he talked about the experience.

"I went to Arizona last summer and it was great," said Zimmerman. "I also went to a game there earlier."

Zimmerman said he doesn't see himself making an early decision.

"I think I will decide during my senior year," said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman has been sitting out July with an injury, but he said he should be back in action next week. He said he has a 3.0 GPA.
