Darin Johnson, 6-4 SR SG Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin, is one of the elite shooting guards in the west for 2013. Johnson has a very good body, with good athleticism and a solid stroke to three point range.

I spoke with Johnson recently and he said he's hearing from a wide variety of schools.

"Most of the Pac-12 has offered, with the exception of Cal, UCLA and Arizona," said Johnson. "San Diego State and Gonzaga have also offered."

I asked Johnson if any schools are standing out for him at this time.

"San Diego State, Oregon, USC, Gonzaga and Washington State are standing out right now," said Johnson.

Johnson talked a little about what he's looking for in a school.

"The style of play, a good relationship with the coach and someplace where I feel comfortable," said Johnson. "The location doesn't really matter to me."

I asked Johnson if he has any time frame in mind for choosing a school.

"After Vegas I'm going to narrow things down and then go from there," said Johnson.

Johnson has been to Gonzaga, USC, Washington State and Pepperdine. I asked if any schools made a particular impression on him.

"USC and Gonzaga made a big impression," said Johnson.

Johnson said he has a 2.9 GPA.
