Egu To Check Out UCLA

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Victor Egu (6-2, 232), is close to narrowing down his list of schools to five, but he wants to take a couple more unofficial visits before he whittles that list down.

"I've almost narrowed my list down to five," said Egu. "I'm definitely going to take all five of my official visits. I'm going to visit UCLA unofficially and I might take an unofficial to Oregon and Notre Dame in early August."

Egu said that he's certain a few schools will be on that list, and will get official visits from him.

"I'm pretty sure Notre Dame, Oregon, Cal and Washington will be on the top five, but I'm leaving the last spot open," said Egu.

Egu said that he's hopeful UCLA will offer him soon, the lone school he's still considering that has yet to offer.

Come the fall, Egu will begin taking his official visits, but he knows the typical Spartan season, which has ended in Carson for the State Bowl Games every year since they were started in 2006, takes them until late December

"Probably the best time to take my visits are after the season, so we'll just see when I get to take them," said Egu.

Egu's versatility has made him an intriguing prospect to college coaches, but he said that most of his attention is coming as an outside linebacker.

"It's been mostly as a linebacker, and I'm pretty set on playing that in college," said Egu.

Academically, he has a 3.8 GPA took the SAT this spring.

Last fall, Egu started at linebacker for the Spartans and helped them to their 20th straight CIF-NCS title and third straight CIF State Open Division title.
