And sports will let it happen again this fall.
Muhammad, the California State champ in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m, traveled to Barcelona this summer for the IAAF World Junior Championships.
And he'll back across the Atlantic in September when Notre Dame faces Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton in Ireland.
Just a typical busy time for Muhammad, who's been all over the place this spring and summer, winning track meets, while balancing school and football.
"Now that track is over, I'm going to be able to focus on football and my recruitment a little more," said Muhammad. "I don't have a list but soon I'll have a list. I just need some time to get focused on recruiting. I know I'm going to take all of my visits, and really get a good feel for a school before deciding on anything."
At this point, the only school Muhammad knows he'll visit is Notre Dame.
"I don't plan on taking any visits during the season, but if I do take on, it will be to Notre Dame," said Muhammad. "I know I am definitely visiting Notre Dame."
Muhammad has already visited Cal, USC, UCLA and Washington, and said he's likely not taking visits officially to the in-state Pac-12 schools, though he's very interested in the BCS conference nearest his home.
"I really like the Pac-12 and grew up around it," said Muhammad. "I'm looking at all the schools I've gotten offers from though."
Muhammad had a clean sweep of the sprints and then the 4x100 at the state meet, and while he was winning state titles in track, football took a backseat.
But not any longer.
"I was able to work on my footwork but I really haven't done anything for football with camps or anything, just some 7on7 with my school," said Muhammad.
Muhammad said that he definitely plans to do both football and track in college.
"The school has to have a good track program, that is one of my priorities, but most importantly, the football program needs to be good," said Muhammad. "I just want a decent program either way. But really, I just want to go to a school that fits me the best, outside of athletics."
Muhammad and Notre Dame open with Gardena (Calif.) Serra before heading to Ireland to play Hamilton in a game that will serve as a precursor to Navy-Notre Dame in Dublin the following day.
