Today, punter/kicker Sean Covington (St. Petersburg, Fla.) received his second scholarship offer. This one came from out west, as the Bruins extended an offer for Covington.
"UCLA offered me today and I am pumped," Covington said. "I like them a lot. The place seems perfect. I know I will make an official visit to them for sure, probably pretty soon. I am pretty sure I will head out there."
Covington, 6-foot-2 and 195-pounds, landed an early offer from Auburn. But the Tigers have landed both a kicker and punter already in their 2013 recruiting class.
"It's basically just UCLA right now," Covington said. "I just want to wait and see who offers and then make a decision."
Covington had an active summer. He camped at Auburn, Alabama, Miami, North Carolina and South Carolina. He also visited Notre Dame. Those were just the team camps. He also participated in kicking camps and is widely considered the top combo kicker in the country for punting and place kicking. Kohl's gave him that distinction. He was their No. 1 punter and No. 8 kicker.
"Most teams prefer me as a punter but I know I can do both," Covington said. "It really will just depend on the situation. I am very flexible."
