UCLA Lands Craig Lee

As expected, Redlands (Calif.) running back Craig Lee announced this morning he has committed to UCLA...

Craig Lee, one of the most explosive backs in the region, said at GridIron Kings in Orlando, Florida last July that he would make his announcement on his birthday, August 15. The Bruins have been leading for some time and a recent unofficial visit to watch the team practice earlier in the week sealed the deal.

"I called up Coach Martin and committed to UCLA this morning," Lee said. "I'm excited to be a Bruin and feel there's a great opportunity for me there. I like the direction the team is going in and feel I'll fit in really well in the offense."

Lee has game breaking speed and was one of the fastest players at GridIron King. He's a true home run threat who can score from anywhere on the field. Lee doesn't have great size but runs very hard, can get downhill and finishes his runs. He's not afraid to run between the tackles and is very dangerous when you get him out in space.

"Craig is an incredible player and person," Redlands assistant coach John Peale said. "I still don't think he knows just how good he really is. He's a very humble kid and didn't really know how to handle all the attention. On the field, he's a natural talent and one of the best backs I've been around.

"He has tremendous speed and a real passion for the game. He works hard and really wants to be good. I know he liked the idea of playing close to home and UCLA has recruited him hard. It's a good fit for him and he should do very well there."

Lee had offers from the entire Pac 12 minus Stanford and USC, plus Houston, Nebraska, Notre Dame and several others.
