Two Bruin Commits Honored

A pair of UCLA verbals on the offensive line were both named as All-Americans, and for one, it takes on a bigger meaning...

Santa Margarita (Calif.) offensive tackle Erik Bunte and Fallbrook (Calif.) offensive tackle Sean Dowling were invited this week to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.

The two Bruin commits are two of the top offensive line prospects in the West in the class of 2013.

For Dowling, it takes on a bigger meaning as his father is a Marine.

"It's a huge honor to be a Semper Fi All-American and the biggest honor is to represent the country and the Marines," said Dowling. "My father is deployed right now, but I got to Skype with him and tell him. He will be home for two weeks and get to be at the game."

Bunte was also thrilled with the honor.

"It means everything to me, " said Bunte. "It is a great honor, and other than my state victory last season, this is the pinnacle of my high school career and I would like to thank Semper Fi and all my supporters."

Fellow UCLA commit Eddie Printz, a quarterback out of Georgia, has previously been invited to the game, to be played at the Home Depot Center in January.

UCLA was represented by Justin Combs in the inaugural game last January.
