UCLA Recruits Louisiana 2014 WR

Recruiting has slowed down for most prospects from Louisiana as college coaches are busy with game preparations. However, Westlake junior Jacory Washington continues to add offers, including four within the past week...

Ole Miss and San Diego State offered Jacory Washington last week, and now Vanderbilt and UCLA have both gotten into the chase to land the 6-5, 225-pounder from the Lake Charles area.

"I got a message from Coach (Charles) Bankins at Vanderbilt on Facebook," Washington recalled. "He said he needs a tight end like me. I asked if that was an offer, and he said to call and find out.

"I called and he made the offer. I really don't know much about Vanderbilt yet, but I'm excited to get the offer. I'm going to look into it and do my research on the school."

Washington discussed the UCLA offer.

"I talked to Coach (Jim) Mora," said Washington, who has been recruited by the Bruins since the summer. "He extended the offer. I'm going out there in January for the Semper-Fidelis All-American Bowl, and will probably take an unofficial visit to see the campus and check out their facilities.

"They say the weather is nice on the West Coast. I wouldn't mind going there; it's so hot down here."

UCLA "y receivers" coach Marques Tuiasosopo is also recruiting Washington, who has double-digit offers from an impressive group of programs (LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas).

Washington's next offer could come from Florida or Auburn. He's hearing from Coach Derek Lewis with the Gators and Coach Gene Chizik from Auburn.

Westlake's week one game was canceled due to Hurricane Isaac. The Rams host the 0-1 Abbeville Wildcats (lost to Iowa) this week.
