Darin Johnson Taking Visits

Darin Johnson, one of the elite wings in the west, has four official visits lined up and he's pondering a fifth visit...

Darin Johnson, 6-4 SR SG Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon, had a terrific summer and his recruitment has changed considerably since July.

We spoke with Johnson recently and he gave us the latest on his recruitment.

"I visited San Diego State and it went real well," said Johnson. "I was impressed. The campus is beautiful and it's in a nice area. Coach Fisher goes back to the Fab Five and you know that they know what they're doing."

Johnson is scheduled to visit Oregon this coming weekend, then Marquette on September 20th and Washington on October 6th.

I asked him which school would get his fifth visit.

"I had an in-home with UCLA this week and it went real well," said Johnson. "UCLA offered, so I might visit either UCLA or Texas A&M on October 20th."

I asked Johnson when he would make a decision regarding that final visit.

"Probably in the next week or so," said Johnson.

Johnson's teammate, Dakarai Allen, just verbally committed to San Diego State, and I asked Johnson if that would be a factor in his decision.

"We were being recruited by some of the same schools, like San Diego State, Washington State, USC and UCLA," said Johnson. "But we're not a package deal or anything."
