The Seraphs will lean heavily on running back Zachary Green (Arizona) who is a punishing between the tackles runner and a good receiver out of the backfield. Tight end Bryce Dixon('14) could end up being one of the more heavily recruited players in the Southland next year. And 2015 quarterback Ricky Town is another one of the top sophomore passers in the West. Santa Margarita's starters should be crisp after many of them took snaps in the fourth quarter with a 10 touchdown lead. Nebraska commitment Johnny Stanton may be the best high school quarterback in the country because of what he can do with his legs and his arm. In front of him are a pair of D-I lineman in center Dane Crane (Washington) and Riley Sorenson, one of UCLA's top targets.
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Chaminade
Oaks Christian has been impressive in its four opening wins, while Crenshaw has been strong to start. The Lions are led by UCLA commit Cameron Judge at linebacker, who also doubles as a tight end, and 2014 quarterback Brandon Dawkins, one of the top passers in the region. UCLA has also offered 2015 athlete Darick Holmes and is keeping a close watch on 2015 offensive lineman Reno Rosene. Crenshaw's top prospect is Mossi Johnson, a receiver/defensive back and Max Lyons is another one of the Cougars top players.
Westlake (Calif.) vs. Encino (Calif.) Crespi
This game lost a lot of luster when Westlake was trounced by La Serna, but there is still plenty of Valley bragging rights on the line when Jon Mack, now at Crespi, faces longtime nemesis, Westlake. Crespi features UCLA target Tyler Foreman and two other prospects they're watching, outside linebacker Ray Davison and safety Brandon Arnold. Westlake has former UCLA verbal Dashon Hunt, who missed last weeks game, as well as 2014 quarterback Danny Hong.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian vs. Whittier (Calif.) Christian
Salesian is one of the most loaded small-school programs in the Southland, with one BCS commit, two 2014 BCS prospects and one of the best quarterbacks in Southern Section. UCLA commit Jermaine Kelly, a cornerback/receiver who can do it all for the Mustangs, is one of their chief two-way threats. Getting him the ball will be pound-for-pound, the strongest armed quarterback in the West, Jihad Vercher, who had a huge game the last two weeks. The Mustangs also feature a pair of top 2014 prospects in Marquis Ware, who plays tight end and linebacker and is nearing double-digit offers as well as Jamardre Cobb, a two-way threat who also has a number of offers.
Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe vs. Chandler (Ariz.)
UCLA's newest commit, offensive lineman Kenny Lacy, and UCLA 2014 offer target Jalen Brown, one of the top receivers in the West, look to improve to 5-0 on the 2012 season and they'll face the alma mater of Bruin quarterback Brett Hundley (as well as Javon Williams and Paul Perkins), who are led by Paul's younger brother, Bryce, who has a UCLA offer.
Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne vs. Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Narbonne is led by Washington commitment Troy Williams at quarterback. Williams will leave Narbonne having started games in all four of his seasons. He is incredibly poised and has a plus arm with command of his offense. Cal commitment A.J. Richardson is Williams' go-to receiver. Linebacker Keishawn Bierria is one of the more unheralded players in the Southland, but he's one of the most active backers we'll see. He is looking at offers from the likes of Arizona, Colorado, and Oregon State among others. Defensive end Paulo Lepua is one of the fastest rising prospect in California and boasts offers from Utah, Arizona, and Oregon State. Serra is not exactly coming to the field empty handed when it comes to talented players, though most of the Cavaliers talent lies in the underclass. Junior quarterback Jalen Green is a strong armed lefty who can run by most defenders on this level. Defensive back Adoree Jackson already holds offers from UCLA, Washington, and Nebraska, and he will be tested early and often by Williams. Linebacker Dwight Williams is part of a talented linebacker crew, and Williams already has an offer from UCLA as well.
Orange (Calif.) Lutheran vs. Redondo (Calif.) Union
Featuring UCLA commit John Lopez on the offensive line, the Lancers take on La Habra, and look to move to 5-0 on the year.
Fresno (Calif.) Central vs. Tulare (Calif.) Union
The vaunted Fresno Central secondary is at full strength again, with the return of UCLA target Johnny Johnson last week. Central also features Bruin target in L.J. Moore at corner and Hatari Byrd, who committed to Oklahoma, but whom UCLA is still recruiting. The Tigers also feature a 2014 prospect with a UCLA offer, receiver Michiah Quick and three other underclassmen they're watching, safety Devon Brewer, defensive lineman Tashon Smallwood and running back Nick Wilson.
Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde vs. Moreno Valley (Calif.) Valley View
Rancho Verde, led by UCLA target Poasi Moala (who's still committed to Washington) and four-star receiver Demorea Stringfellow, take on crosstown foe Valley View.
Other UCLA Commits in Action
Bellevue (Wash.) and linebacker Myles Jack host Kirkland (Wash.) Lake Washington. Rialto (Calif.) Carter defensive tackle Kenneth Clark take on Rialto Eisenhower. Fallbrook (Calif.) offensive tackle Sean Dowling plays San Diego Del Norte.
Memphis (Tenn.) East offensive tackle Christian Morris, a UCLA commit, defeated Memphis (Tenn.) University, 30-23. Missouri City (Texas) Marshall linebacker Deon Hollins defeated Houston (Tex.) Worthing, 68-0.
