Johnson Talks Washington Visit

Fresno (Calif.) Central defensive back Johnny Johnson took an official visit to Washington over the weekend and said the Huskies definitely moved up his board...

Prior to the visit to Seattle, Johnny Johnson had consistently said he had a top two of Stanford and UCLA. After his mid week visit to Seattle, where Johnson saw the Huskies beat the Cardinal, Washington is now high on his list.

"They definitely closed the gap, I had a great visit," Johnson said. "It was a great experience and I loved everything about the trip, there wasn't a single negative. The biggest highlights for me were the game atmosphere and how well prepared the defense was.

"Washington had a great game plan going in and they executed it to perfection. The defensive backs played really well and (Desmond) Trufant was very impressive. He's a senior and the coaches said there's a spot there and they want me to come in and compete for it. Freshman can play there so that was good to hear."

Johnson said talking with the coaches and the players on the team were a few other highlights for him.

"Shaq Thompson was my host and he's a good dude," Johnson said. "All the players were great and I also spent some good time with Coach Sark and Coach Wilcox. I didn't spend much time with Coach Heyward, the DB coach, but the other coaches told me they liked me a lot and want me to come in and be ready to compete for a spot.

"As for my list, right now, I don't have an order any more. Stanford is probably the safest pick but all those schools are pretty equal and I still have my Oklahoma visit set up for October as well. I'm going to take that visit and maybe a few others and just see where I'm at around that time."
