Bruins Watching Greer

The Palm Springs (Calif.) linebacker, Michael Greer, has been to some UCLA games and the Bruins are keeping an eye on him...

Palm Springs (Calif.) linebacker Michael Greer (6-2, 199), is holding one offer, but as his senior film gets out, he's hoping to see more schools, especially from the FBS level, get involved.

"I have one offer so far from Illinois State," said Greer. "But I'm hearing a lot from UCLA, Colorado, Oregon State, Cal Poly and Utah."

Greer has been to UCLA's past two home games, and the Bruins are Greer's favorite school.

"That's kind of my dream school that I always grew up watching," said Greer. "Coach (Steve) Broussard recruits my region, but Coach (Demetrice) Martin is who's recruiting me. They like me as a linebacker or safety. I play rover now. Coach Martin has invited me to the last couple of games and he just wants to see my grades get up and more film."

Greer said he's carrying a 3.0, having pulled it up over the past year, and he'll take the SAT and ACT in the fall.

"That's what a lot of schools were waiting for, to get my grades up and my test scores," said Greer. "They all said I could play, but I needed to work on my grades."

Greer camped with Colorado this summer and said the Buffs could be the closest to offering him, and he also played on the 7on7 circuit this spring and summer, getting a chance to go up against some of California's best, something he's not able to do often in Palm Springs.

"We played 1925 at the IMG Tournament and I caught the winning touchdown with no time left, and receiver isn't even my main position," said Greer.
