UCLA dipped into the Sunshine State to pick up a punter in Sean Covington. Covington, from St. Petersburg (Fla.) High School, committed to the Bruins earlier today.

"UCLA is perfect for me," Covington said. "I loved my visit there. The coaches were great and the weather is awesome. It's a place where I feel like I could be very comfortable as a freshman next year."

Covington, 6-2 and 195-pounds, made his official visit to UCLA this past weekend. He said that he will punt and have kickoff duties for the Bruins.

Covington had an active summer. He camped at Auburn, Alabama, Miami, North Carolina and South Carolina. He also visited Notre Dame. Those were just the team camps. He also participated in kicking camps and is widely considered the top combo kicker in the country for punting and place kicking. Kohl's gave him that distinction. He was their No. 1 punter and No. 8 kicker.

North Carolina, Alabama, Boise State, and Oklahoma State were other schools pursuing him and showing interest but none had offered. The Bruins offered him a scholarship back in early August.
