"I loved everything about the visit," Willis said. "I didn't really know what to expect before the visit and just wanted to come in to the trip with an open mind. I got there on Saturday and hung out with Avery Moss and a few other players. I ate something before the game and then walked out on the field and it was crazy.
"Nebraska football is like nothing else. Everyone knew my name and was chanting for me to come to school there and be a part of the black shirts. I've never experienced anything like that and the passion the fans have is really special. Once you play football at Nebraska, you're always remembered. It doesn't matter how long you've been gone, you're always a part of the program in the fans eyes there and I love that."
Willis saw Nebraska shut down a solid Michigan team and said he was very impressed with the program.
"Sometimes when you're on a visit, you're watching the defense or the secondary, I was just there watching as a fan," Willis said. "I like the defense a lot and the excitement that was going on. Afterwards I was able to watch some film with Coach Joseph and they told me how well I would fit in and how they're looking for players to come in and be ready to go.
"They didn't specify if they want me as a corner or safety, they said they like my versatility and feel I could help out in a lot of ways. They didn't promise anything and that's fine for me. They said they want guy to come in and be ready to compete and the best players will play. Overall, the trip was great and there were no negatives. It was a little cold but if I'm blessed enough to make it to the NFL, you're going to play in the cold so it won't be a factor for me at all."
Next up for Willis was supposed to be a trip to LSU for this coming weekend but that will likely be re-scheduled.
"I just thought with the game with Alabama, it would be too hard to spend enough time with the coaches and players to make the visit worth it," Willis said. "I want to go when I can spend a lot of time on campus and get to know everyone and I just don't see that happening this weekend.
"I just set up a trip to Virginia for (Nov. 10) when they play Miami. Sean Moore is a family friend and I have a cousin on the team. It's a beautiful place and they're light in the secondary so I'm interested in them for sure."
Willis said he still hasn't had time to narrow his list down to five or even 10 schools but is close to doing so.
"I'm so focused on my team and winning a state title," Willis said. "I need to do that though, and I will soon enough. I just don't want any distractions and it takes time to sit down and start trying to cross a bunch of schools off your list. I've been to some Arizona State and Arizona games and I'm interested in both.
"I've been to UCLA and USC and I still like both of those schools as well. Like I said, I still like everyone and I don't have a leader right now. I can say Nebraska will be in it until the very end, that's for sure but other than that, I'm still open to everyone."
