2013 shooting guard Zach LaVine took his official visit to UCLA last weekend, which coincided with the opening of new Pauley Pavilion. At the game, LaVine was impressed by the new game experience.

"It was great," LaVine said. "It was so loud in there, and I really liked the whole arena, and all the history. It was all just really nice."

LaVine's official visit comes after a long string of unofficial visits to the campus, so he was already fairly familiar with Pauley Pavilion and the campus. The visit, LaVine said, was more to allow his parents to gain familiarity with the campus and meet with Dan Guerrero and the coaching staff.

LaVine, who committed to UCLA prior to the summer, did indeed sign with UCLA today on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Several other 2013 and 2014 prospects watched the game against Indiana State alongside LaVine, and the four-star prospect said that he spent a little bit of time recruiting after the game.

"I chopped it up a bit with Justise Winslow after the game," LaVine said. "He's cool. And I also talked with Stanley Johnson a little bit. I didn't talk to Jordan McLaughlin much, so I need to get my recruiting hat on a little more."

LaVine said he was impressed by UCLA playing a bit more up and down, and said that coach Ben Howland told him that after a year of getting used to playing more up tempo, the team should be ready to play really fast next season, when LaVine joins the team.

As of now, LaVine is being told to expect to play point guard when he joins the team next season.

"Right now, the plan is for me to play point guard," LaVine said. "I'm excited about the opportunity."

Grades-wise, LaVine has done a lot of work since the start of his junior year of high school, and says that UCLA has already accepted him, pending his senior year grades.
