Bruin Win Impresses Williams

Gardena (Calif.) Serra 2014 linebacker Dwight Williams will be one of the most heavily recruited linebackers in the West in the next class.

Williams, who hails from the school that produced Marqise Lee and Robert Woods, but who's head coach went to UCLA, got to see the two crosstown rivals meet on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.

And the Scout 300 prospect enjoyed the atmosphere at the game.

"The game was electrifying because it was local and both teams are basically the home team, so everything was in favor of the crowd," said Williams.

Williams was impressed with what the Bruins did in their win over the Trojans.

"Man, UCLA came out explosive from the first turnover and it just carried on throughout the rest of the game and its crazy how a coaching staff can make that big of a difference in one year from 50-0 to a win," said Williams.

Williams, who holds an offer from UCLA, said he was mostly impressed with the play of the Bruin linebackers.

"Anthony Barr was just the Pac-12 player of the week last week against Washington State, so that says enough about him right there and Eric Kendricks won the week before that, so those guys just have a nose for the ball and will get there every time," said Williams. "I know Coach (Jeff) Ulbrich did his job working with them and getting them ready. Especially with Barr because he was a running back and receiver and is now a linebacker. He always had the athleticism and Coach Ulbrich made a hell of a linebacker out of him."

Williams, who also has a lot of interest in the Trojans, though he's waiting for an offer, will next be at the Coliseum this weekend when USC hosts Notre Dame in their regular season finale.

"I will be there on Saturday," said Williams.

Over the weekend, Boise State offered Williams, joining the Bruin offer as well as offers from Arizona State, Colorado and Oregon State.

On Friday night, Williams and Serra will face Lompoc (Calif.), in the CIF-SS Western Division semifinals.
