Benenoch Working on Officials

The #9-ranked offensive guard in the nation, a 6-6, 320-pound Caleb Benenoch from Katy, Texas, talked about planning his official visits, and the one he's taking this upcoming weekend...

He was hoping it would not play out this way. But when Katy (TX) Seven Lakes offensive lineman Caleb Benenoch and his team was bounced out of the playoffs in the first round that was not part of his plan during the off season and two-a-days.

"We were up and we held them (Lamar football team) on some key downs. But they converted a couple of fourth downs, one was for the game-winning touchdown," Benenoch said.

And while that has left a bad taste in his mouth, Benenoch has decided to use this time to get more acclimated with some of the programs that have shown him interest.

This weekend, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound Benenoch will take an official visit to a Top 25 West Coast program.

"UCLA this weekend. I will be in town for the Stanford game," Benenoch said.

As the process continues for him, there are already over 30 programs that have offered him up to this point. And even though he has a good grasp on what he wants to do as far as working out all of the visits, more programs are showing up with interest. And possibly offers.

"The coach at Michigan called and I am looking to call him back. I think that they will likely offer," Benenoch said. "I was pretty much told that I have one (offer), but the head coach has to sign off on it to make it official."

Last month it was reported that there were talks going on between Benenoch and Alabama. He said that he looks to make a call to see where things stand with him and the Crimson Tide.

Closer to the home front, Benenoch is still keeping an eye on programs in the Big 12 Conference as well.

"I may be going to Austin for the Texas/TCU game this week. Coach from UT asked me if I wanted to go," Benenoch said. "I also may be making an official to Baylor soon as well. I may try and get down there for the Oklahoma State game."
