Offers Start for 2014 Running Back

The Oakley (Calif.) Freedom 2014 running back, Joe Mixon, added a Big Ten offer on Wednesday, and hopes for a UCLA one soon...

Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon already had five offers, but all of them came from the Pac-12.

The 2014 Scout 300 prospect, though, got one from outside the West on Wednesday, and it was a big one.

"I just got offered by Michigan," said Mixon. "Coach (Dan) Ferrigno offered me. I called him up and he was like 'Joe, we are offering you,' so I'm really excited. I was kind of expecting it because they liked me a lot."

Mixon, who had offers from Arizona State, California, Colorado, Oregon State and Washington, was thrilled to land an offer from the Wolverines.

"Their coaching staff and environment is a place I can see myself at," said Mixon.

And he thinks another couple could be in the very near future.

"Coach Angus McClure from UCLA is coming by (the school) and we have a strong relationship and I'm pretty sure UCLA will offer me soon," said Mixon. "And I'm hoping that Coach (Gary) Campbell from Oregon offers me when he comes next week."

Arizona State has also stopped by the school in the last week to check in on Mixon.

But Mixon doesn't plan to narrow his list down any time soon.

"I don't have any idea yet of leaders because I know more are coming so I'm waiting," said Mixon.

Mixon has been invited to the U.S. Army Combine in January in San Antonio.
