"I didn't know what to do at first, that's why I was going to wait until Saturday," explained Eldridge Massington. "I was so confused. But after really looking into it all, and doing all the pros and cons, UCLA was the best fit."
Jim Mora and staff's NFL experience was the top 'pro'.
"I know I can get to the League from anywhere, but I know from UCLA, once I get to there, I'll be polished. They can show me the things it takes to make it, give me the inside, make sure I'm ready when I get there."
Second advantage: the trust and relationship Massington has established with the staff, his best and closest connection being with receivers coach Eric Yarber.
"I love Coach Yarb. That's my guy," he said. "I'm excited to work with him."
As far as his former commitment to USC, Massington was quick to squash rumors of joining UCLA to "stick it" to the Trojans.
"I have no hard feelings with USC. In fact, I have a USC shirt on right now as we speak," he laughed. "I'm in a great place and I'm ready for what's ahead."
He graduates Friday from West Mesquite High School, and will be in L.A. before January classes begin, ready to begin ACL rehab with the University staff and get that jump start to his freshman season.
