Newby Set to Announce

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby has cut his list down to two schools and will make his college choice this week.

Terrell Newby is an explosive athlete and had a big senior season. He's a true game breaker and a home run threat from anywhere on the field.

Newby took an official visit to Nebraska in September and the Huskers are one of his two finalists.

"I'm down to Nebraska and UCLA," Newby said. "I've already made my decision and I'll announce it this week. I'm going to have a press conference at my school but I'm still working on the date and time. I've actually known for a while and I feel really good about."

Newby was supposed to visit UCLA this coming weekend. Does the fact that the athlete is making his decision before he visits bode well for the Huskers?

"That's not really an issue because I've been to UCLA a few times already," Newby said. "I just wanted to get the decision over with and told both schools I was ready to get this done. Both are great schools and I know I would be very happy at either spot.

"Nebraska was a great visit and I have a great relationship with the coaching staff. UCLA is the local school and I like the direction their program is going in. Like I said, both are good programs but I went with the school that I felt most comfortable with and where I thought I would fit in the best."
