SoCal Nike: Recruiting Notes

Here are some recruiting news and notes from Sunday's Nike Camp, including many tidbits on UCLA prospects...

*Imperial (Calif.) running back Royce Freeman earned RB MVP honors after a very impressive showing at the NIKE Camp. Freeman is nearing double digit scholarship offers and currently has Nevada, Arizona, Vanderbilt, California, Oregon State, Washington, Colorado State, Tennessee and Arkansas. Boise State and USC are showing interest and Freeman said he'll camp with the Trojans and Oregon.

*Newhall (Calif.) Hart sophomore wide out Trent Irwin has an early offer from Colorado and plans to camp with Oregon State, UCLA and USC this summer. A visit to Michigan, where his family is from, is also under consideration and Irwin said he's open to everyone right now.

*Compton (Calif.) Centennial defensive back Denzel Fisher put his name on the map at Sunday's NIKE Camp with an MVP performance. UCLA was the lone school who had contacted Fisher prior to the camp but San Diego State has since offered a scholarship and you can expect that list to grow rapidly. Fisher will camp at UCLA in the summer and is hoping to hit up a few more as well but has yet to schedule any others.

*Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe two-way lineman Natrell Curtis attended the NIKE Camp but said he was too sore to work out from a previous camp. He still made the visit to take an unofficial visit to UCLA on Monday and picked up a scholarship offer from the Bruins. Curtis also has offers from national programs like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Nebraska as well as just about all of the Pac 12.

*Carlsbad (Calif.) quarterback Christian Chapman picked up an offer from Washington State last week and is hearing from several other Pac 12 programs as well. The Cougs along with UCLA, USC and San Diego State are on his short list and the signal caller will likely camp and or visit all of them this spring and summer.

*A sophomore to keep a close eye on is Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis offensive lineman Fred Ulu-Perry. The talented guard looked great in the drills and one on ones and could be a national recruit. Hawaii has offered and is an early favorite along with Arizona, Arizona State, USC and UCLA.

*Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood sophomore defensive lineman T.J. Fehoko has an early offer from Utah and is hearing from national programs as well. The Utes along with Miami, Syracuse and Michigan are a few of his early leaders.

*West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade athlete Donovan Lee is holding an offer from Colordao and receiving national interest from just about everyone. Lee, who could play running back, slot or corner in college will camp with USC, Colorado and Oregon in the summer and said he's still open to everyone who wants to recruit him.

*Another talented underclassmen at the NIKE Camp was Culver City (Calif.) athlete Stanley Norman. Norman took reps at corner and receiver and shined at both spots. San Jose State remains the lone offer for Norman but he's a national recruit with the talent to play for anyone. USC, LSU, Oregon and UCLA were the early leaders for Norman.

*Carlsbad (Calif.) linebacker Jordan Perez has early offers from BYU, Oregon State, Utah and Washington State and it sounds like Colorado could be very close. Perez said he's open but would like to camp with Stanford, Colorado, UCLA and USC.
