But even Mama never expected to get recruited on the level he has.
The Alabama offer was the first to really wow Mama.
"It was overwhelming to get an offer from Alabama and the SEC, especially for an L.A. kid," said Mama. "It showed I could play at that level. I thought maybe I'd get some Pac-12 offers, but I wasn't sure about the SEC. Ole Miss was actually the first SEC school to offer me and that was big."
Mama said just getting letters from Alabama blew him away.
"Just receiving mail from them was pretty big for me," said Mama. "I never thought they would offer."
Mama has had about as good a March as one could hope for, landing multiple big offers, earning the OL MVP honors at the Los Angeles NFTC and adding in an invitation to The Opening.
"I'm just trying to stay level-headed and stay focused and work hard," said Mama. "Because this is all really overwhelming."
Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, California, Colorado, Florida State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State have all offered Mama.
And with so many offers, Mama said he'll be taking his time in narrowing his list and making a decision.
"I'm going to probably camp at USC and UCLA and maybe another school or two," said Mama. "And I'll probably be taking all five of my trips. (Former teammates) Nico (Falah) and Bryce (Treggs) said to make sure you made the right decision and take all five trips."
Mama can play either tackle or guard, but said he thinks guard will be where he ends up in college.
"I can probably play both in college and schools are recruiting me for both, but some schools like me just as a guard," said Mama. "There have been a lot of guards lately that have been picked in the first round so that's cool."
Academically, Mama is set to take the SAT next month.
In the meantime, he's trying to trim down to get to a more optimal playing weight for his senior year.
"I'm 350 right now, but I want to get down to at least 345 and hopefully down to 335," said Mama.
