Smallwood to Visit Next Week

Fresno (Calif.) Central defensive lineman Tashon Smallwood committed to USC last month and is still very solid in his commitment but will do some visits, both unofficially and officially in the fall...

Tashon Smallwood is one the top defensive lineman in the region and a tremendous pass rusher. He has 40 sacks combined over the last two seasons and is currently rated the No. 3 defensive tackle in the West.

Smallwood took in California's Junior Day last weekend and will make a road trip south early next week.

"One of my coaches is taking me and Michiah Quick down to UCLA on Monday," Smallwood said. "I just heard about it today but it should be fun. UCLA just offered me this week. I talked to the head coach, coach Mora, plus the linebacker coach, the defensive coordinator and the defensive line coach.

"They said they have been watching me since my sophomore year and were amazed after watching my junior tape. They talked about how much I had improved and said they really liked me and were going to recruit me hard the rest of the year."

Smallwood reiterated that he's solid to USC but repeated what he said immediately after he committed to the Trojans back in late February.

"I said from the very beginning after I committed that I'm still open to other schools in terms of listening to them giving everyone their respect," Smallwood said. "I still plan to take my official visits for sure just to see what else is out there.

"I'm locked in with USC, I love everyone thing about them but I still want to go through the process and listen to what these schools have to say. I don't have any specific schools in mind right now that I know I'll visit, nothing is set but I'll just figure all that out later on in the process."
