Schilling is the second assistant hired, Alford having already brought on Duane Broussard, which was announced yesterday.
Schilling is currently the head coach of Indianapolis (Ind.) Park Tudor High, but is the former head caoch at Wright State and was an assistant at Memphis under John Calipari.
Schilling is connected to the high school prospect world, being one of the primary coaches at Adidas Nations, the organization that trains and puts together national prep all-american teams.
Schilling is well-liked and respected by many prospects for his work with Adidas Nations.
Scout.com's Brian Snow called Schilling "one of the best, if not the best, coach in the state (of Indiana)."
Schilling doesn't have connections to the west coast or to the Los Angeles area, but he is connected with the Indiana AAU scene, and the national scene through Adidas Nations.
Lori Zimmerman, the mother of elite 2015 post prospect Stephen Zimmerman, tweeted: "Love Coach Schilling! Great guy, great coach."
Lori Zimmerman is a UCLA alumni who has expressed the desire for her son to play at UCLA, but was having reservations about it as long as Ben Howland remained in Westwood.
Alford now has one more assistant spot to fill on his staff.
