Big Weekend for Brand-Sims

Wenatchee (Wash.) running back Isaiah Brandt-Sims took an unofficial visit to UCLA this weekend and picked up an offer from Utah…

Wenatchee (Wash.) running back Isaiah Brandt-Sims headed down to Westwood this weekend to get a firsthand look at UCLA.

"It was great," said Brandt-Sims. "Originally the visit was for the track junior day, but it worked out for me to talk to coach Mora as well."

"I think they are looking at me for both (sports)," said Brandt-Sims. "The track coach is talking to Mora and trying to get them to offer me because he really wants me to go there."

Brandt-Sims plays running back for his high school team, but some colleges also like him as a potential slot receiver.

"Coach Mora didn't really talk about a position," said Brandt-Sims. "But when I was talking to an assistant coach he said they liked me at either running back or slot receiver."

So what was the highlight of the trip?

"The weather stood out (laugh)," said Brandt-Sims. "There were tons of people everywhere, a ton of really cool places around the campus."

In addition to interest from UCLA, Brandt-Sims holds offers from Arizona State, Colorado State, SMU, Washington and Wyoming. He is also receiving attention from a long list of other programs.

"Oregon State is messaging me a lot right now," said Brandt-Sims. "Ole Miss and Mississippi State are sending me letters. I actually just got a message from Coach Erickson at Utah to give him a call so I will do that today."

After we spoke with Brandt-Sims, he gave Coach Erickson and Utah a call and received some good news.

"I just talked to Utah and Dennis Erickson offered me a scholarship," said Brandt-Sims. "They like me at running back."

Brandt-Sims is a world class track athlete and that will keep him pretty busy this spring.

"I think for the rest of the school year, I will just do track," said Brandt-Sims. "This summer I will go on some more trips. I will be at the Washington camp for sure. Then I am trying to get out to Harvard and Yale, maybe California or UCLA again."
