Smith has not participated in any of the winter or spring 7-on-7 tournaments, nor has he visited any colleges campuses to watch spring practice.
"My whole focus is on track right now," Smith said. "I still enjoy talking to coaches and it's always a great feeling when a new offer comes in. My last one was from Colorado on Saturday. I talked with Charles Clark, the same coach who offered me at San Jose State, so that was cool.
"Right now, football is definitely on the backburner. I don't have any plans to camp with anyone or do any visits in the spring. I'm so busy with track and trying to help us win a state title and I'm staying on top of my school work too. Once track is done, then I'll turn to football and I'll be ready to go."
Even though he's not focusing on football much, Smith said he does have a solid top five right now.
"My top five is USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and UCLA," Smith said. "I plan to visit all of those schools and then make a decision pretty close to Signing Day or whenever my last visit is. Right now, I don't have a leader, all those schools are cool and they're all recruiting me hard.
"If I had to pick the schools recruiting me the hardest, I would probably say Oklahoma State, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA, USC and Arizona. Even though I have a top five, I'm still open to other schools and I know there's a long way to go in my recruitment. That's why I want to wait it out, I want to see how this season goes and see where I feel most comfortable and then just go from there."
