Scout's Take: Murphy-Richardson

The three-star outside linebacker from Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge, Ismael Murphy-Richardson, has very good size and athleticism...

Name: Ismael Murphy-Richardson

School: Goodyear (AZ.) Desert Vista

Position: OLB/WR

Size: 6-4 210

Stats: Made 49 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 2 INTs on D. Had 32 receptions, 747 yards and 11 scores on offense

Recruiting: 3 star OLB has 6 offers

Class: 2014

Film Eval: A lot of people throw the term "freak athlete" around and I do not necessarily like that but Murphy-Richardson is one. Wide receivers have a reputation of not liking to get in the mix and get down and dirty, so it is not typical to see one be such an great linebacker, like Murphy-Richardson. He has the length and range that college coaches crave. He has the athletic ability and versatility to be an every down player, crucial today with the every prevalent use of the spread offense. And like I hinted at above, he is physical. Now don't get me wrong, if Ismael wanted to play wide receiver exclusively, he could do it and would get division-one offers but I think his ceiling is higher as an outside linebacker. He is currently a 3 star prospect that is on the verge of being a 4 star player.
