The offer was met with a lot of skepticism, mostly by people who had never seen Broadus play before. The athlete went out and had a solid sophomore season and more offers rolled in from schools like California, Duke, Oregon State, and Washington. On Thursday, Broadus landed an offer from a school pretty close to his heart.
"I got an offer from USC," Broadus said. "My knee has been bothering me lately so I haven't played in the last three 7 on 7 tournaments our team has played in. I was able to practice yesterday at school and coach Cregg, from USC was at our practice and was filming me.
"He showed the film to Coach Kiffin and they must have liked what they saw because he told me they were offering me a scholarship. That's a big offer for me for sure and honestly I never saw it coming. USC hadn't shown me much interest at all to this point so it's an exciting offer and I have a lot of interest in USC."
When USC was rolling in the Pete Carroll era, Broadus' famous father Snoop Dogg was a frequent sideline visitor at just about every home game sporting Trojan gear from head to toe. Does this offer now put the Trojans in the drivers seat?
"USC is definitely the school I grew up rooting for," Broadus said. "That's why this offer means a lot but I'm not ready to name any favorites or narrow my list down yet. Honestly I'm open to everyone. It's real early for me and my plan is still to take my time and do all my official visits.
"I plan to take some visits this summer and will probably camp with UCLA again and with USC too. I want to visit some schools out of the area but I haven't made any of those decision just yet."
