McLaughlin Hears From UCLA

Jordan McLaughlin, one of the top targets for UCLA in 2014, had a Bruin assistant out to his high school recently...

Jordan McLaughlin, 6-0 JR PG Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Etiwanda, is the top-ranked player at his position in the west and he's obviously coveted by a number of programs. I spoke with McLaughlin at the opening night of the Pump Hoop Fest and asked him which programs have come by his school in recent weeks.

"UCLA, San Diego State, USC and Gonzaga came out," said McLaughlin. "I'm going to have in-home visits with UCLA and Gonzaga."

When asked if he has a feel for which programs have been recruiting him the hardest, McLaughlin replied, "UCLA, San Diego State, Gonzaga and USC."

I asked McLaughlin which Bruin coach came out to see him at his school.

"Coach Broussard," said McLaughlin. "He's a good guy and a good coach."

I asked McLaughlin for his thoughts on UCLA now that a new staff is in place.

"I met Coach Alford when he was at New Mexico, so I know him a little bit," said McLaughlin. "Their style of play at New Mexico was pretty good. They have a lot of ball screens, get up and down, which is what I'm looking for."

When asked if he has any plans to visit UCLA in the near future, McLaughlin replied, "No, not right now."

McLaughlin has been to several school campuses in the last couple years.

"I've been to Stanford, USC, UCLA and San Diego State," said McLaughlin. "I've been to few games at San Diego State."

I asked McLaughlin if he has any visits planned.

"No, nothing right now," said McLaughlin. "I want to go through the spring and summer and then I'll cut down my list."

McLaughlin said he has no time frame for making a decision.
