Mixon to Visit UCLA

2014 Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon visited Washington this weekend and will visit UCLA next weekend for its spring game...

Joe Mixon cut his list of 40+ offers down to 15 schools in Mid May. He has already visited a few schools on his list and checked out Washington this past weekend.

"The visit was super fun, I had a great time out there," Mixon said. "In fact, I'm planning to go back for another unofficial visit during the summer. I loved everything about it, the stadium was incredible, and the team bonding they have is really incredible.

"They're a real family there and I love how hyped they get before they go out on the field. I was in the meetings with them before they took the field and that was off the chain, they get crazy. The players on the team treated me great.

"I got to hang out with some of the players, Shaq Thompson, Troy Williams, Danny Shelton and a few others at night and that was a lot of fun as well. Michiah Quick was with us too and like I said, it was a great bonding experience. I talked a lot with the coaches, Coach Nansen is the RB coach and he's a great guy and a vey good coach as well."

Mixon said he has no idea when he plans to cut his list from 15 down to 5 but said Washington will be on that list when he does make the cut. Next up for the athlete will be a visit to Los Angeles this coming weekend to check out UCLA and USC.

"I've already been to USC so this will be my first time visiting UCLA," Mixon said. "I'm not sure who I'm visiting first but I'm looking forward to getting out there. I went to USC's Junior Day and had a real good time there. I grew up really high on USC and getting that offer from them was a big deal.

"With UCLA, I really like Coach Mora a lot and he's a great coach. He's building something at UCLA and I've heard great things about the place so it will be fun to visit. I have no idea right now when I'll cut my list down again, could be later in the summer and I'm not sure about other visits for me. I want to take a few more but the ones this weekend are all I have set up."
