Local RB Checks Out UCLA

Vista Murrieta (Calif.) running back Kishawn Holmes took a trip to UCLA over the weekend and is very high on the Bruins right now...

There are several talented players in the west region still waiting for their first scholarship offer and Kishawn Holmes is definitely in that category. He got it done in pads last season for one of the state's best programs and has been dominant on the spring 7 on 7 circuit as well.

UCLA is one school Holmes has been high on for some time and he visited the Westwood campus on Saturday.

"It was great, I loved it there," Holmes said. "UCLA has a great campus, really nice place and I like the team a lot. I spent a lot of time with the coaches and especially Coach Broussard, the RB coach. He told me they're very interested in me and want me to come out to their camp in the summer.

"He said he wanted me to come out to at least one of their camps and I told them I was going to both. He said that was perfect and if I do well and have a great camp, I have a great chance to get an offer. He said he has heard about how well I've been doing but obviously they haven't seen me yet so I'm looking forward to getting out there and competing."

It is surprising that no one has offered Holmes yet but the running back said it's definitely motivating him.

"I think a lot of colleges are sleeping on me right now," Holmes said. "I think things will pick up once they come out and see me in the spring. I may be a late bloomer but I'm working hard. After the camp season, I think people will see what I can do and I'm going to be a hot recruit."
