Freeman Decommits from UCLA

Guard Allerik Freeman, who signed with UCLA in November, has decided to open up his recruitment after UCLA hired a new staff last month...

There's a Top 100 prospect back on the board, as 6-foot-4, 205-pound Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep 2013 shooting guard Allerik Freeman is decommitting from UCLA and asking out of his Letter of Intent.

"He's going to open it back up," said Findlay Prep head coach Todd Simon.

Freeman committed to UCLA in September, when the Bruins were coached by Ben Howland. After Howland was fired and eventually replaced by Steve Alford, Freeman started to have second thoughts.

"I think he just wants to feel comfortable with the staff and that stuff," said Simon. "He loved UCLA but it's a new staff."

The four-star shooting guard is ranked 62nd overall in Scout.com's 2013 Top 100.

With Freeman's decommitment, UCLA's 2013 recruiting class consists of shooting guards Zach LaVine and Bryce Alford along with small forward Noah Allen.
