Jackson Visits Southland

The College of San Mateo (Calif.) offensive lineman, Dominick Jackson, took an unofficial visit to UCLA...

College of San Mateo (Calif.) offensive tackle Dominick Jackson got one of his first offers from UCLA early on.

And over the weekend, Jackson traveled down to the Southland to visit the Westwood campus on an unofficial visit and take in the Bruins' Spring Game at the Rose Bowl.

"I went down there to UCLA for an unofficial visit and it was just great," said Jackson. "I had a beautiful experience, a great time and I got a very great vibe, from the coaching staff. It was just a great time. I am definitely going to take an official visit there as soon as I can."

Jackson said the trip showed him a lot, but because it was just an unofficial, there were a few things he didn't get to check out, making a return trip a definite.

"The things I did get to see were great, like the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is amazing. I saw the coaching staff interact with the players and how they get ready for the game and how they work out and warm up and come together as a team. It was a pretty great experience," said Jackson. "One thing about it I did like, there was nothing about it that was boring. It was fun and interesting the whole time. That's why I want to go back."

Jackson got to meet newly drafted running back Johnathan Franklin, and seeing Franklin and Datone Jones at the Rose Bowl impressed him.

"I love the fact that they had two draft picks going to the same team, and even though they went pro like this weekend, they were both at the game, and all about UCLA and showing Bruin pride and Bruin love," said Jackson.

Jackson had talked with offensive line coach Adrian Klemm prior to the trip, Klemm was the one who offered him, but it was the first time he got to meet him in person.

"Oh man, me and Coach Klemm, we hit it off real great," said Jackson. "I felt like I had known Coach Klemm the majority of my life. Talking to him was like talking to an uncle or my dad, like someone I had known my whole life and not just for a few hours."

Jackson also got to speak briefly with head coach Jim Mora.

"Coach Mora and I talked for a brief minute and he told me how interested they were in me and how much of an impact I would be on the team," said Jackson. "He loves the fact that I'm a little older of an offensive lineman, but that I could bring some spice and some funk to the offensive line."

Jackson has had several visitors by the school in the last two weeks.

"We've had Missouri, Arkansas, Arizona State, Cincinnati and Kansas all by," said Jackson. "And all the big schools are coming this week or next. We're working out now in practice, so they're getting to see me practice."

Jackson said that since Arkansas and UCLA have offered, he's added offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, Kansas, and USC and LSU are on the brink.

"I think my next unofficial visit, I'm going to try to get down to see USC, but I think the rest of my trips are going to be officials and I will take all five of them," said Jackson.
