One player on the West Coast who has absolutely exploded this spring on the recruiting trail is Brekkott Chapman. The Roy (Utah) standout has seen offers come pouring in, and recently one of the top schools in the country made an in-home visit with him.
At about 6-foot-7, Chapman is a very skilled power forward who is capable of scoring inside and out, and that is exactly what he is was out to prove to college coaches this spring.
"My biggest upside is that I am a versatile player," said Chapman. "I can bring the ball down the court and help the guards out, and then I can also score in the low post. I am just trying to show how versatile I am."
Recruiting wise Chapman has offers from BYU, Utah, Utah State, Arizona State, Arizona, and Colorado. Also interest is coming in from UCLA and some from Kansas as well.
On Wednesday UCLA came in and made an in-home visit, and Chapman says the Bruin coaches were just telling him about what the school had to offer.
"They just told me about the new situation at UCLA and we had a good nice talk about UCLA and what they can offer," said Chapman. "I was impressed with their presentation."
Another Pac 12 school, Arizona, was scheduled to make an in-home with Chapman, but at the last minute it had to be re-scheduled.
"I would have had an in-home visit with Arizona, but Coach (Sean) Miller had a family situation," said Chapman. "I have an offer from them and I talk to them every once in a while."
At the moment Chapman doesn't have a timeline for a decision and no visits are planned, but he does have a good idea of what he is looking for in a school.
"I want to go to a versatile team that runs a lot kind of like my AAU team does, but then also be good to run a play when in the half court," said Chapman. "Also I am looking for a school where I have a good relationship with the coaches."
