Lyle Is Interested in Bruin Interest

Evansville (Ind.) Bosse five-star point guard Jaquan Lyle has been busy in an effort to trim his list. He's been seeing coaches at his high school, entertaining them through in-home visits and talking with them on the phone. He had made it a tidy list of six schools, which were Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, and Tennessee.

But UCLA and new Bruin Head Coach Steve Alford has pushed the list to seven.

Lyle was in Los Angeles two weekends ago for the Nike EYBL, and he had a chance to visit UCLA's campus. Alford then offered Lyle, and visited him last week during the Recruiting Period.

"It is real big to get an offer from UCLA," Lyle said. "They (UCLA) were recruiting me with the old staff before they got fired."

Alford, of course, scouted the Indiana Spiece AAU team at the Nike EYBL, which included wing Trevon Bluiett and Lyle.

Lyle said: "I knew Coach Alford, he recruited me at New Mexico, and then (UCLA Assistant) Coach (Ed) Schilling and Trevon know each other so that connection got started. I like them, they offered, and I like the way Coach Alford coached at New Mexico, and I hope it continues at UCLA."

Even though UCLA is coming a bit late to the game, Lyle has indicated that he has legitimate interest in UCLA.

"UCLA is just a great school and it is an honor to get an offer," Lyle said.
