Brewer Sees Spring Game

The Fresno (Calif.) Central safety, Devon Brewer, was at the Rose Bowl on Saturday and he may camp at UCLA this summer...

Fresno (Calif.) Central safety Devon Brewer (5-11, 165), is often the forgotten man on a loaded Grizzlies team.

Especially in the secondary, where Brewer started as the lone junior, a secondary that had three All-Americans, two that signed with Oklahoma and one with UCLA.

But coaches haven't forgotten about Brewer, and six schools have offered.

"Nevada, Houston, UNLV, San Diego State, Eastern Washington and San Jose State have all offered me," said Brewer. "I think Cal is close too."

Brewer visited Cal in March and went to their spring game. This past weekend, he visited UCLA for their spring game.

"I liked it a lot and it was a great environment at UCLA," said Brewer. "They're recruiting me as a safety. I talked to Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin), and it went pretty good. I met the whole coaching staff and Johnny Johnson (one of his Central teammates) just tells me about UCLA a lot."

Brewer said UCLA and Cal both want him at their camps as does Arizona State.

And two more schools could be close to offering.

"Washington and Boise State both have been talking to me a lot and they could be offering soon," said Brewer.

Brewer missed the early part of spring, after suffering a foot injury during an offseason workout, but will be at the Oakland NFTC next month.
