2014 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly safety John 'Juju' Smith is at 18 scholarship offers and counting.

The five-star recruit and's top-rated safety recently took unofficial visits to local Los Angeles schools UCLA and USC.

He attended the Bruins' spring game and said it was "good," but that he really isn't putting much stock into spring games. "To be honest I'm not really excited by spring games," he explained. "There's no [physical] contact.

"But the Bruins are a great team. [Head coach] Jim Mora is putting players in the NFL and I think I'll probably fit in," he continued.

Smith took an unofficial to USC for the Trojans' Junior Day. "I really liked it," he said. "My personal recruiter is [receivers coach] Tee Martin. He knows how to treat his players right and knows where we are coming from."

A top recruit on both sides of the ball, Smith says USC head coach Lane Kiffin told him he can play "wherever he wants" at USC. "If I do go there I'll probably start off at wide receiver," Smith said.

A Southern California native, Smith says he is keeping an open mind about all of the schools offering him. "I can stay home, go away from home," he explained. "It's just four years. It doesn't matter."

The 6-foot-1 185 pound recruit has done his research and though he hasn't officially narrowed his list says a few schools are standing out because of their football programs as well as academics.

"I like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, and Washington recently just came up," he said.
