The Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco cornerback, Chandler Hawkins, has a plan for summer camps and UCLA is on the list...

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco cornerback Chandler Hawkins (6-0, 180), has a chance this week to make an impression on a number of schools.

Part of one of the most talented programs in the West, nine players from St. John Bosco have an FBS offer, the Braves will host a showcase for college coaches on Thursday evening.

"We've got a bunch of coaches coming to our showcase so I'm really looking forward to that," said Hawkins. "A lot of schools said they want me to come to their camps, but they just want to see me so some will get to see me then."

Hawkins has an offer from San Jose State, and the Spartans have made a big impression.

"Coach (Donte) Williams is recruiting me to San Jose State and we have a really good relationship," said Hawkins. "I like San Jose State a lot."

A number of schools have stayed in steady contact with Hawkins.

"Vanderbilt, Utah, Air Force, Army, Arizona and Northwestern have all been talking to me a lot," said Hawkins. "Washington, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Cal too."

Hawkins visited San Jose State, Stanford and Cal in March and the Cardinal have his attention.

"Stanford wants me to come to their camp and I think I'm going to go to that," said Hawkins. "If they offered me, I would potentially consider committing there right then and there. It's a real good school academically and athletically. I liked it when I was there."

The two home town schools also want Hawkins for their camp.

"I'm planning on going to the UCLA and USC camps for sure," said Hawkins.

Hawkins has had a good spring, earning all-tournament honors at the Vegas 7on7 after helping Team AIGA to the tournament title, recording six picks in the playoff round.

Academically, Hawkins has a 3.8 and will be taking the SAT in June.
