In a game at EYBL Dallas, Whitehead pumped in five threes, including one from well behind the stripe. Whitehead, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Brookly (N.Y.) Lincoln, said he's focused on shooting in his workouts.
"I've been working on the three a lot," Whitehead said. "People seem to not find me as a three point shooter or a three-point threat, so I wanted to come out here and show everybody what I can do."
Whitehead, who helped leaded Lincoln to the PSAL city championship, had two games with at least four three-pointers this past weekend. He's shooting just under 40-percent from three in 13 EYBL games on 46 attempts.
"There's a lot of schools," he added.
"Recruiting is the same since last year," Whitehead said. "I'm not really looking into it until this over and during the high school season maybe. It's going good."
Whitehead said he's taken a visit to Syracuse and is planning a trip to Louisville in the fall.
"That's the guaranteed one I'm going to visit, but I have to talk to my mom about the rest," Whitehead said about visit Louisville.
"After the AAU and between the next school year I'll probably go up there," he added.
Whitehead said his mom talks to Rick Pitino regularly and he's talked to him twice.
"It's been great," Whitehead said. "They've been calling my family a lot."
Whitehead, a four-star recruit, is currently ranked No. 43 overall by Scout.com.
